F/LIST presents the world's first wood veneered surface with full heat release compliance at AIX 2025
F/LIST, the Austrian pioneer for innovative luxury solutions in cabin design, is presenting an industry first at this year's Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg: the world's first fully heat-release-compliant real wood veneer for use in premium commercial aircraft cabins. With this groundbreaking development, F/LIST opens up new possibilities for airlines and designers who want to redefine the passenger experience, differentiate themselves from the competition and create a homely atmosphere in the cabin. The new veneers from the F/LAB series can be seen at the F/LIST stand 6B62.
"More and more airlines are turning to natural and bio-based materials to improve the travel experience and attract passengers who might otherwise fly private. With our new, heat-release-compliant real wood veneer, we enable them to forgo plastic or imitation designs in favor of real materials that radiate comfort and tranquility. This is a great added value, especially in First Class or the newly emerging Super Business Class suites, where airlines want to convey the feeling of a private jet," explains Anita Gradwohl, Group Director Sales at F/LIST.
The new F/LAB Wood Veneers offer airlines additional opportunities for emotional staging - with regional origins, a history of craftsmanship and authentic materiality. Thanks to innovative technology, the material meets all regulatory requirements regarding heat release without adding weight on board - it is as light as conventional decorative foils. At the same time, a wide variety of wood types can be processed - from regional birch wood to Asian bamboo.
F/LAB Wood Veneer brings elements of nature into the cabin.
"We work closely with design studios and airlines to develop individual concepts that rely on natural materials while meeting the highest standards of aesthetics, durability and regulatory requirements," adds Gradwohl.
In contrast to synthetic materials, the new heat-release-compliant veneer appeals to several senses at once: The look, feel and even smell convey a noticeably natural environment in the interior. The calming properties of real wood reduce stress and contribute to a more relaxed atmosphere in the cabin - for passengers and crew alike.
"At first glance, many aircraft cabins appear to be clad in wood, but are actually made of thermoplastic or printed films. This makes the response from airlines and design studios to our new product all the more positive. It not only reflects current interior trends in the premium segment, but also underlines our goal of making flying a real experience with comfort and character," says Michael Müller, Managing Director F/LIST Aviation.
F/LIST invites airlines, designers, manufacturers and partners to experience the new world of materials live at stand 6B62 at AIX 2025. In addition to the new heat-release-compliant veneer, F/LIST will also be showcasing other innovations such as the F/LAB Stone Inlay - materials that not only impress with their technological excellence, but also with the highest design quality and sustainability.
